Introducing Zero1LLM
A desktop assistant that runs open models on your own computer and gives them the web and a browser, with your permission.
Open AI models have become good enough to run on an ordinary laptop. What's been missing is an app that makes that easy for everyone, not just people who enjoy reading model cards.
Zero1LLM is our answer. It's a desktop app for Windows and macOS that:
- checks your computer and tells you which models will run well before you download anything,
- runs them locally, offline, with your chats saved on your machine,
- searches the web when you need current information, with sources you can click,
- uses a browser beside the chat for sites that need clicks or JavaScript, only on sites you allow,
- reads your files and images: PDFs, spreadsheets, screenshots.
Why local first
Most everyday questions don't need a data centre. Running the model on your computer means your questions and files stay with you, it works on a plane, and it costs nothing per message.
Local models have two weak spots: they don't know what happened after their training, and they can't see websites. Web search and browser control fill those gaps. Because they reach outside your computer, the app asks before it does either on its own.
What's next
We're testing with early users on Windows and macOS now. Next on the list: your own cloud keys for the times you want a frontier model, Spaces with memory you control, and Teams.
Download Zero1LLM or browse the model catalog: each model's page shows whether it will run on your computer.
