Questions, answered
Do I need an account?
No. You can download the app and chat with local models without one. An account is for paid plans, teams and your usage page.
Do you charge for AI tokens?
No. Local models are free to run. When cloud models arrive you use your own provider keys and the provider bills you directly. We never resell tokens.
Is the price final?
Not yet. These are draft prices while the app is in testing. Payments aren’t switched on; everyone is on Free for now.
What counts as a local model?
Each model you download to your computer. Deleting one frees its place. Models our LocalPilot VS Code extension already downloaded are reused without downloading again.
Does my data leave my computer?
Chats and local models stay on your computer. Web searches and pages you allow are fetched from the internet; if you add cloud keys, those messages go to that provider.
